I had to buy it separately. Students may prefer this method of studying the material, especially given that many of them perhaps most may tridley own compact disc players, or prefer that resources be available online rather than on discs that require either purchase or a visit to the music library.
Get to Know Us. Jazz Styles profiles musicians and mentions about others. Gridley divides the book and online content into eleven chapters, of which the first two are preparatory but vital: Text book doesn’t add too much fluff, just the important moments of jazz history.

They also offer many lecture-demonstration strategies and teaching tips for first-time instructors. However, I thought I had clicked on a book that had the CD’s with it. The Origins of Jazz Chapter 4: Jazz Demonstration Disc for Jazz Styles: The Elements of Music Appendix explains the basic terms that are used to describe music.
